In Her Eyes

-Based on a true story-

Walking through the park, we spotted a sqiurrel.

She said: Cat.

I said:  Squirrel.

She said: Cat.

I said: No, that’s not a cat. That’s a squirrel. Squirrrrrrrel !!!!!

She said: Ca… Ca….. Caaaaaat !!!!

In her eyes, EVERYTHING is either a cat or a dog.

We walked by a shop that had a Anubis statue in front of the entrance.

I didn’t see it at first.

She said:  Doggie, doggie, doggie.

I said: That’s not a d….oh wait a minute! I guess it is.

Boy,  things sure are confusing at my age !!! LOL

Clouds

Word Prompt-Clouds

2 cloud images

I have always loved capturing images in the clouds.

That’s actually one of my top favorite things to photograph. The other is lightning.

And flowers obviously.

When I look at this picture I can see two images.

Do you see what I see?

After adjusting the ISO from 1600 to 400 w/o the flash, I could see a significant difference in the color of the photos. In this rare case though, I like both pics.

Tuesday’s Thought

It’s a process.

Canon ELPH 180 Review

I have been trying to track the Canon ELPH 180 camera (in store) for at least a year. Seems like every store I went into had it on display but none in stock. Both Walmart and Target had display only. Why have a display of something that is not available for purchase? But the Walmart electronics employee explained that I could order it online and pick it up at the store. I decided not to do that but to check at Best Buy. And they had it!!! In the store!!!! So that’s what I’ve been using for the past two weeks.

I think my pics are so much more clearer with my cell camera. I really wasn’t happy with the results of the Canon at first. I couldn’t get any good shots while the sun was out..  I couldn’t get any pics of the clouds. I love taking cloud pics. (Sometimes I find images in the clouds later when I get home and flip through the photos).  I take the same pic several times to try out all of the different settings.  But they still didn’t come out the way I’d like them to. So I asked my cousin who is a photographer what was I doing wrong.

Why aren’t my pics clear? The sunny pics don’t show the true colors of the flowers. The pics of  feathered animals have a soft fuzz look; like they have fur instead of feathers. And I can’t clearly capture anything white. It’s so bright I can’t even tell if the white flowers have petals or not. How do I get clearer shots?

She said:

  1. Lower the ISO when you have a lot of light
  2. Crank up ISO for night shots
  3. Try the program scene modes
  4. Lower the ISO and a larger F-stop is needed when the pics have a soft furry look
  5. F-stop of 2.0 will focus only on a small part of the object
  6. F-stop of 14 pic will be crisp and focused
  7. Lower F-stop is great for portraits (it will blur the bkgrd)
  8. Set the focus mode in Program (F-stop) to 20 to focus on objects far away

So I’ll try this and hope for improvement….

Just Live.

I have tried my hands at a lot of different things over the years. I remember when I wanted to be a courtroom sketch artist, a songwriter and a photographer. I love capturing images in the clouds and recording lightning storms.  There was a time when I wanted to be a fashion designer. I used to sketch ball gowns and make sheet dresses . But I never learned how to sew. I could only pin, tape and sometimes staple the sheets or fabric to my body and make it look like a dress. Then I started making candy dolls and wanted to open a candy shop along with other arts and crafts like framed art.

All of these things were done in an attempt to find a career. I was taught in high school, that your career should be something you enjoy doing. Find something you like and find a way to get paid for it. Find something people are in need of and supply the need. Supply and demand.

Of all those “career” choices and things I love to do, none of those things bring nearly as much joy and satisfaction as being a mom. Some people might not understand that but I guess parenting means something different to each person. For me it’s everything.  I knew when I was 18 yrs old that I wanted to be a mom and a homemaker. I just got caught up in all of that other stuff because I was told I had to “do something” and I was made to feel like what I wanted to do wasn’t enough.

I spent all those years chasing. Trying to find the answer to a question that I already had the answer to all along……

Taste Buds

I must have the weirdest taste in the world. What is wrong with my buds?

I DO NOT eat bananas. When I eat banana pudding, I pick the bananas out. But I like anything banana flavored. And I love the smell of bananas.

Sour cream will never touch my lips. Unless it’s cooked in a doughnut….

Ice cream is tricky. I’ll eat it but it has to be so cold; nearly frozen hard enough to chew and I eat my Frosted Flakes poured over vanilla ice cream. Ice cream makes me extremely thirsty; only water can quench it.

I’ll eat any cereal that’s frosted or has some kind of sugar on it (dry snack style like popcorn) because I DO NOT drink milk.

The only thing I hate worst than milk is mayo. I’m gagging just thinking about it. I don’t even like to sit next to someone else while they eat it. That smell.

Cheesecake has to solid as a rock, too.

I love peanut butter especially warm and melted on toast but it makes me sleepy.

I love sweet potato pie and souffle  but sweet potato fries make me cry.

I pour hot sauce or soy sauce on my boiled eggs.

I am in love with sharp cheddar. The sharper the bitter; the bitter the better.

Butter cream and cream cheese icings are my best friends but whipped icing is my worst enemy. I get so offended about icing that isn’t sweet. Gotta be sweet or else you can’t call it icing. LOL.
